CIDES GREEN TECHNOLOGIES

Center for Innovative Development Solutions (CIDES) is a social enterprise development organization established and incorporated in the laws of Kenya in the year 2010

Our mandate is to address structural causes of poverty making citizens self-reliant in all spheres of life. CIDES facilitate processes that links contact groups to local, national and global social-economic development programs for sustainability.

We are founded on the employment of ecological farming concepts and principles for the design and management of sustainable agroecosystems which emphasize on the conscious use of renewable energy, natural soil fertility methods, integrated pest management, agroforestry, re-afforestation and low external inputs to build sustainable and just food systems within communities.

As such we have been promoting climate smart approaches for the development of on-farm and off-farm Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) built around biogas.

We are achieving this through biogas installation and maintenance repairs, training biogas artisans, biogas users on operation and maintenance, bioslurry utilization and management and providing linkages to financial institutions (MFIs and SACCOs) in a bid to increase access to the biogas technology.

This way we are making a positive contribution to solving the global challenges of food security, access to affordable clean energy, reducing emissions, improving productivity and boosting profitability with socio-economic and environmental benefits.

We apply Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and approaches to livelihoods, environment and businesses for sustainability while placing communities at the center of development to improve their well-being while addressing pressing social economic and environmental challenges.

We facilitate regenerative agriculture recognizing its multiple benefits of improving farming systems, building resilient food and nutrition systems, conserve biodiversity and contribute to enhancing sustainable agro-based businesses, creating employment and income opportunities, improving livelihoods and boosting economic growth at all levels.

We put the farm system at the heart of our capacity development interventions. We are the Home-based Solutions Center facilitating farm and business families, youth and women, institutions to sustainably manage and use locally available resources to meet present needs while preserving the same for the future generations.

As a result, we have been facilitating communities to adapt, mitigate or recover from the impacts of a warmed climate and now cope with the devastating vagaries of COVID 19 which continue to threaten sustainable access to food and nutritional security.
